Cannes Lions 2026: The Complete Transport Guide for Advertising Professionals

Cannes Lions — the International Festival of Creativity — is one of the most logistically demanding professional gatherings on the entire French Riviera. Every year, more than 15,000 delegates from around the world — creative directors, CMOs, producers, agencies and advertisers — converge on Cannes for a week. Hotels are fully booked six months in advance. The Croisette becomes a permanent networking corridor. And transport becomes, as with the Film Festival, a strategic challenge.

This guide is written by the Plug-In Cannes team, a premium VTC private chauffeur service based in Cannes. We have worked Cannes Lions for several editions. What we give you here is what we observe every year on the ground — not information from the official brochure.

Cannes Lions 2026: dates, venue and what it means for transport

The official 2026 dates

Cannes Lions 2026 runs from 15 to 21 June 2026 at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes. The week begins Monday morning with the first seminars and ends Friday evening with the Grand Prix ceremony. Saturday is a day of mass departures.

Why transport logistics are critical at Cannes Lions

Cannes Lions delivers an unparalleled density of professional events: keynotes, workshops, award shows, yacht parties, private dinners, beach activations from major groups (WPP, Publicis, Havas, Meta, Google, Spotify…). A well-organised delegate can chain 4 to 6 appointments per day across different venues.

The problem: Cannes is not a metropolis. Its geography is linear — the Croisette, the port, the hills — and its public transport capacity is insufficient to absorb 15,000 additional professionals. Unprepared ride-hailing drivers wait 30 to 45 minutes for a pickup. Taxis are overwhelmed. Hire bikes would work if delegates did not have a minister's schedule.

How to arrive in Cannes for Cannes Lions: the airport transfer

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport — the entry point for 90% of delegates

The vast majority of international Cannes Lions participants arrive via Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE). Flights from London Heathrow, Paris CDG, Amsterdam, New York JFK, Los Angeles LAX and Dubai arrive in volume on Monday 15 June and Sunday 14 June for the most organised attendees.

The Nice–Cannes distance is approximately 30 kilometres. In normal conditions: 25 to 35 minutes on the A8 motorway. During Cannes Lions, with opening Monday traffic density and the usual summer roadworks on the Riviera: allow 40 to 60 minutes. It is predictable, it is manageable — if your chauffeur is there when your plane lands.

What you lose if you arrive without a booking

Classic scenario: you land at Nice at 2:30 pm. Your first meeting is at 4:30 pm at the Hôtel Martinez. The taxi queue at the airport is 35 minutes long. Ride-hailing apps display "no driver available in your area". You arrive sweaty, stressed, 10 minutes late. The meeting you spent 3 months arranging starts on a note of chaos.

With our Nice Airport – Cannes transfer service, your chauffeur tracks your flight in real time. He is in the arrivals hall with your name, whatever the time. No waiting, no negotiation, no meter running during traffic jams — guaranteed fixed rate.

Other access routes

  • Helicopter from Nice: 7 minutes of flying time, landing at Cannes heliport. Luxurious, but not practical for heavy luggage. We handle the heliport → hotel transfer.
  • TGV Paris–Cannes: 4h30 from Paris Gare de Lyon. A solid option for French delegates. Cannes station is right in the city centre — walkable to many hotels, vehicle needed for the rest.
  • Hire car: avoid it. Parking on the Croisette is impossible during the event; paid parking is saturated everywhere. Rental ends up costing more than our as-directed service once you factor in parking, fuel and stress.

Getting around during Cannes Lions week

The event geography: what happens where

Cannes Lions is spread across three main zones:

Zone 1 — The Palais des Festivals: official keynotes, conference rooms, award ceremonies. This is the heart of the event, on the Boulevard de la Croisette. Walkable from the Croisette, but your hotel may be 1.5 km away.

Zone 2 — The Beach Activations: every major platform (Meta Beach, Spotify Beach, Google Beach, TikTok For Business Beach…) runs its own beach or terrace on the Croisette throughout the week. These spaces are the real venues for informal networking.

Zone 3 — The Port Yachts: the biggest deals are often signed on the yachts moored at Cannes port. Major agency holding groups (WPP, Publicis Groupe, Havas, IPG) charter yachts for their key clients. Access by invitation only.

Zone 4 — Hotels and Rooftops: private dinners, agency cocktails, technology presentations in the salons of the grand hotels (Martinez, Majestic, JW Marriott, Grand Hyatt).

The challenge: moving between these zones in less time than expected

A typical Cannes Lions delegate agenda looks like this: 9 am keynote at the Palais → 11 am workshop in a conference room → 12:30 pm lunch on the Meta Beach → 3 pm client presentation at the JW Marriott → 5 pm cocktail at Publicis on yacht → 8 pm private dinner at a villa in the Cannes hills → 11 pm afterparty on a rooftop.

Each transition requires either walking (feasible for short distances, brutal in June at 30°C in business attire) or having a vehicle. This is where an as-directed chauffeur for the day or evening changes everything.

We booked a chauffeur on as-directed for the entire week. Best decision we made. We went from 4 meetings a day to 7, never once arriving late.

As-directed service: the offering built for Cannes Lions

Why as-directed is more efficient than booking individual rides

For a professional festival of this intensity, booking individual journeys (point A → point B at a fixed time) is not suited to the reality. Your schedule changes three times a day. A meeting ends 20 minutes early, another runs an hour over. You need a chauffeur who adapts to your pace, not the other way around.

Our as-directed service works like this: your dedicated chauffeur is available to you from 8 am to midnight (or within your specified windows). He knows your programme, he waits, he anticipates. You say "we leave in 10 minutes" — he is downstairs. Your vehicle is air-conditioned, your mineral water is chilled, your mind can stay in the meeting you just left.

As-directed packages during Cannes Lions

For a week like Cannes Lions, three approaches are most in demand:

Full-day as-directed (8 am–8 pm): ideal for delegates who chain professional appointments all day. The chauffeur handles all business movements.

Evening as-directed (7 pm–1 am): for executives who manage their days on foot or by taxi and want a reliable chauffeur for evenings, dinners and yacht parties (returns from yachts can be late and logistically complicated).

Full-week as-directed (5 or 7 days): for delegates for whom Cannes Lions is the most important professional trip of the year. Maximum availability, dedicated chauffeur, consistent service Monday through Friday.

Cannes Lions and Monaco, Nice, Saint-Tropez: typical extensions

Cannes Lions is also the occasion for numerous B2B or client excursions outside Cannes. Here are the most frequent ones we handle:

Cannes → Monaco: casino evening or business dinner

Monaco is 45 minutes from Cannes. Several agencies and advertisers organise exclusive casino evenings or private business dinners in Monaco during Lions week. Our Cannes–Monaco transfer is available in the evening with direct pick-up from your Croisette hotel.

Cannes → Nice: airport and in-town appointments

For delegates making return trips to Paris or other European cities mid-week, our Cannes–Nice Airport transfer is the most reliable solution. We also handle transfers to hotels and restaurants in the Vieux-Nice for dinners that take you beyond the Cannes perimeter.

Cannes → Saint-Tropez: yacht day or luxury dinner

The most premium clients sometimes organise a charter yacht day from Saint-Tropez for their most important guests. The Cannes → Saint-Tropez journey is approximately 1h30. Our Cannes–Saint-Tropez transfer can be integrated into a full-day as-directed booking.

Ground-level advice for a smooth Cannes Lions week

After working several Cannes Lions editions, here is what our chauffeurs and team recommend.

Map out your movements the weekend before

Note down all your confirmed meeting venues with their exact addresses over the weekend before the event. Share this programme with your chauffeur. He knows Cannes in detail — he can already identify the closest drop-off points, vehicle access routes and optimised journey paths.

Build margins into your schedule

Cannes Lions is a festival where spontaneous conversations on the Meta Beach or at the Martinez bar can be the most productive of the whole week. If your schedule is too tight, you will miss those opportunities. Allow 20 to 30 minutes between each formal appointment. With a chauffeur on as-directed, those margins are not wasted time — they are time in an air-conditioned vehicle where you answer your emails.

Thursday evening: anticipate the award show exodus

Cannes Lions Thursday evening is particularly dense — the Lions award ceremonies end between 9 pm and 10:30 pm, and everyone spills out at the same time heading to after-parties. This is the trickiest transport moment of the week. If you have a dinner or event after the ceremony, make sure your chauffeur is positioned before the show ends.

Friday evening and Saturday morning: the mass departures

The Grand Prix is awarded Friday evening. From Saturday morning, departures to Nice Airport are massive. Standard taxis and ride-hailing will be saturated. Book your return airport transfer in advance — ideally setting the departure time with a 1h30 buffer before your check-in time.

FAQ — Cannes Lions and VTC transport

How much does an airport transfer from Nice to Cannes cost during Cannes Lions?

Our rates are fixed and do not vary during festival periods. Expect €90 for a Mercedes E-Class (saloon, up to 3 passengers with luggage), €110 for a Mercedes V-Class (van, up to 7 passengers) and €150 for a Mercedes S-Class (grand luxury). These rates include free waiting time for flight delays (60 minutes included), arrivals hall meet-and-greet with a name board and the A8 motorway. No festival surcharge, no overnight surcharge for arrivals up to 11:59 pm.

Can you book a chauffeur by the day for the entire Cannes Lions week?

Yes, this is our most popular package for Cannes Lions. The full-day as-directed booking (8 am–8 pm) or full-week booking guarantees a dedicated chauffeur who adapts to your agenda. Share your programme at the start of the week and the chauffeur adjusts in real time. For an agency team, the Mercedes V-Class (7 seats) on as-directed is the most cost-effective solution. Contact us for a personalised quote.

Is the service available for late-night events and yacht parties?

Absolutely. Cannes Lions evenings often run past midnight — gala dinners, agency parties, after-parties or returns from the port yachts. Our chauffeurs are available until 2 am on request. For returns from yachts, give your chauffeur 30 minutes' notice. We offer an evening as-directed package (7 pm–1 am) specifically designed for these constraints.

How do I handle transfers to Monaco or Nice from Cannes during Lions week?

Cannes–Monaco (45 min) and Cannes–Nice (30 min) are two of the most frequent journeys. These transfers can be integrated into a full-day as-directed booking or reserved as individual rides at a fixed rate. For Monaco, expect approximately €120 in a Mercedes E-Class. For Nice city centre, €90. We pick up from your Croisette hotel.

When should I book for Cannes Lions 2026?

As early as possible — ideally right now if you are reading this in April or May. The week of 15 June is one of our busiest weeks of the year. Full-week as-directed availability goes first. Monday 15 June (opening) and Saturday 20 June (mass departures) are the most requested slots. We confirm availability and quote within 2 hours.

Do you offer a service for groups and agency teams?

Yes. Several agencies and holding groups book multiple vehicles for their teams during Cannes Lions. We manage multi-vehicle fleets with central coordination: a single point of contact, airport rotation planning, V-Class vans for groups, logistics service for client dinners and private events. Group rates available from 5 people. Contact us by email or phone for a group quote.

Can you access Croisette hotels with your service during Cannes Lions?

Yes. Our chauffeurs know the vehicle access routes for every Croisette hotel — Martinez, Carlton, Majestic, Barrière Le Gray, JW Marriott — and the traffic rules during events. Unlike the Film Festival (May), there is no large-scale regulated perimeter at Cannes Lions, but certain streets operate alternating traffic. Our chauffeurs adapt in real time for drop-off at your hotel entrance.

Are there transfers from Cannes to Saint-Tropez during Lions?

Yes, we regularly carry out Cannes–Saint-Tropez transfers for clients organising lunches or yacht days in Saint-Tropez during Lions week. The journey takes 1h30 to 2h depending on summer traffic. This trip is ideally integrated into a full-day as-directed booking — the chauffeur takes you in the morning and returns to collect you. Rate on request. Contact us to plan your Saint-Tropez day as part of your Lions week.

Is the service available for other events in Cannes?

Absolutely. Plug-In Cannes operates year-round on the Côte d'Azur. We cover the Cannes Film Festival (May), the Monaco Grand Prix (May), MIPIM (March), MIPCOM (October), Cannes Series (April) and all private travel. Our ground-level knowledge of the major Cannes events is what differentiates us from a generic VTC service.

Conclusion: Cannes Lions 2026 — be ready before you arrive

Cannes Lions is an investment. Between the delegate badge, the Croisette hotel, the flights and the client entertainment budget — a week at Cannes Lions easily represents €5,000 to €15,000 per delegate for an agency or advertiser. In that context, saving €200 on transport by improvising with taxis and random apps makes no strategic sense.

What you buy with a private chauffeur at Cannes Lions is not transport. It is mental bandwidth. Every car journey is time recovered — to prepare your next pitch, debrief the meeting you just left, make the call you cannot take in the hotel open space.

Plug-In Cannes has worked Cannes Lions for several editions. Our chauffeurs know the venues, the schedules, the access routes and the unexpected events. Book now for the week of 15 June 2026 — availability is limited.
